Chestertown is a beautiful town with an interesting history, a colonial riverfront, a superior fine arts and sciences college, and many interesting things to see and do while you’re here for Art in the Park. Check out our local art galleries and our Chestertown-built tall ship, the Sultana, all within a five-minute walk from Art in the Park.
Throughout the day you may want to amble about town to take in the shops, galleries and other activities of interest. Heading down High Street toward the Chester River, you will see the Artist's Gallery on your right and the historic Prince Theatre and Imperial Hotel on your left. High Street ends at the Chester River where you can often see the Sultana which offers morning and afternoon sails. Call Sultana Projects at 410 778-5954 to find out what sails are available.
Performing in Fountain Park the evening of Art in the Park will be the Annapolis Bluegrass Band in a free concert open to the public.
Right across from Fountain Park, you can find The Finishing Touch, source of artist supplies and framed art. Turning down Cross Street, you will see several retail shops and the Sultana store. Making a right onto Cannon Street, you will find the Chestertown Arts League Gallery, sponsor of Art in the Park, on the left hand side.
On the other side of Fountain Park, you can find Artworks, a sister organization of CAL.
